about

Lucky says: "Norfolk Island is a beautiful place but the history of the penal colony is sobering. The ruins of the old prison are within sight of Emily Bay, a picturesque lagoon framed by a crescent of golden sand and majestic Norfolk pines. You can't help pitying the convicts who lived out such miserable lives within sight of such beauty. Johnny is an imaginary character who takes part in the convict uprising of 1846 when several policemen were killed and a dozen convicts subsequently hanged. They were buried without ceremony at Murderer's Mound, also within sight of beautiful Emily Bay."
